A product idea can drift for months without a deadline and a plan. A 90-day framework gives you both: a realistic structure that takes an ayurvedic product from idea to launch-ready in a focused quarter. Timelines vary by product, so treat the weeks here as a planning shape to adapt, not a promise — but the sequence holds for most first launches.

Days 1–15: Define and decide

Get the foundations right before spending money.

  • Define the product, the target customer and what it does for them.
  • Decide standard versus custom formulation.
  • Set a realistic budget and first-order range.
  • Draft the brand basics: name and positioning.

Leaving this phase with a clear, written brief is the single best predictor of a smooth project.

Days 16–35: Select a partner

  • Shortlist manufacturers that make your dosage form and category.
  • Request samples and itemised quotes.
  • Review documents and assess communication.
  • Choose your manufacturing partner.

This choice is hard to reverse after launch, so resist rushing it to save a week.

Days 36–55: Develop and sample

  • Finalise the formulation (or confirm the standard product).
  • Develop brand and compliant packaging artwork in parallel.
  • Review and approve the sample — product, packaging and artwork together.

Keep artwork moving alongside the product so it never becomes the bottleneck.

Days 56–75: Produce

  • Confirm the first-order quantity against demand, shelf life and cash flow.
  • Place the order and let sourcing, production and in-process checks run.
  • Confirm finished-product testing and that you receive the report.

This phase is largely the manufacturer’s to run; your job is prompt approvals and clear communication.

Days 76–90: Prepare to launch

  • Set pricing and ready your sales channels.
  • Plan how you will reach customers so stock does not sit.
  • Receive the batch with its documents and go live.

Making the framework work

Two habits keep a 90-day plan on track: finalising the brief before development starts, and turning approvals around quickly. Most slippage comes from a moving brief or slow sign-offs, both within your control. Build in a little slack for one round of revisions and for testing to run properly.

A 90-day checklist

  1. Written brief and budget (days 1–15).
  2. Partner selected on samples and quotes (16–35).
  3. Formula and artwork approved (36–55).
  4. Order placed, tested and made (56–75).
  5. Channels and pricing ready; launch (76–90).

Frequently asked questions

Can every product be launched in 90 days?

Not always — a complex custom product with bespoke packaging may take longer, while a standard product can be faster. Use the framework as a shape and adjust to your product’s real timeline.

What derails the plan most often?

A brief that keeps changing and slow approvals. Both are within your control. Finalise the brief early and keep sign-offs moving.

Where should I build in slack?

Around sample and artwork revisions and finished-product testing. Setting the launch date from the optimistic timeline is the surest way to miss it.
