Shatavari

Asparagus racemosus

The principal classical women's tonic in Ayurveda, and one of the most under-served search opportunities in Hindi.

Also known as: शतावरी

Traditional use

The leading stri-roga herb in the classical literature, a rasayana for women used across the reproductive years, and traditionally associated with lactation support. The root is the part used.

Why brands use it

"Shatavari ke fayde" and related Hindi queries carry substantial volume with surprisingly weak competition. The herb works across a thirty-year age span, from a woman in her twenties managing energy to one in her late forties approaching perimenopause, which lets one SKU support several campaigns.

Quality and specification

Root material. Saponin content is the usual marker. Adulteration with related Asparagus species occurs.

Safety and cautions

Generally well tolerated. Traditionally used in pregnancy and lactation, but a commercial product should still advise practitioner consultation rather than assuming it.

Questions we actually get

Before you ask us

Can we market it for lactation?

There is a long traditional association, but a direct claim needs careful wording and practitioner review. We would rather discuss the phrasing than print something that creates a problem later.

Your idea, made tangible

Formulating with Shatavari?

Tell us the format and the volume. We will come back with a specification, a per-unit cost and a realistic first-batch date.
