Neem

Azadirachta indica

Universally recognised in India, and bought mostly by a young acne-motivated audience rather than by traditional users.

Also known as: Nimba, नीम

Traditional use

Leaf, bark and oil all used, with distinct applications. Leaf is used orally in classical blood-purifier formulations; oil is used topically.

Why brands use it

Needs no introduction anywhere in India. Most neem capsule buyers are in their twenties and motivated by acne, which makes short-video content unusually effective. Demand lifts through the monsoon when skin complaints are most common.

Quality and specification

Leaf for oral products; oil and seed have a different safety profile and different uses. Keep the plant part explicit on the label.

Safety and cautions

Oral neem is not advised in pregnancy or for anyone trying to conceive, and that caution belongs prominently on the label. Neem oil must not be taken internally.

Questions we actually get

Before you ask us

Can we claim it clears acne?

No. Skin wellness and the traditional purifying use of neem are the available positions. Acne is a medical condition.

Leaf or seed?

Leaf for oral use. Seed and oil have a different and more restrictive safety profile.

Your idea, made tangible

Formulating with Neem?

Tell us the format and the volume. We will come back with a specification, a per-unit cost and a realistic first-batch date.
