Shilajit

Purified shilajit (mineral pitch)

The ingredient Indian men recognise first, and the most adulterated ingredient in Indian herbal supply.

Also known as: Salajeet, Mumijo, शिलाजीत

Traditional use

A mineral pitch exuded from Himalayan rock, purified before use. Classified as a rasayana and used in vajikarana formulations for vitality and stamina. Classical purification (shodhana) is an essential step, not an optional one.

Why brands use it

Carries more instant recognition with Indian male customers than any other ingredient in this catalogue. Resin carries the best margin and premium perception; capsules and drops carry the volume. "How to identify genuine shilajit" is a large, under-served Hindi search topic and the single best content angle available here.

Quality and specification

This is the critical point. Adulteration is endemic and fakes can carry heavy metals. Insist on purified extract with a supplier certificate of analysis plus independent heavy-metal testing on every lot. Fulvic acid content is the usual standardisation marker.

Safety and cautions

Purified material is generally well tolerated. Unpurified or adulterated material is a genuine heavy-metal risk. Not advised in pregnancy, and anyone with gout or high uric acid should consult a practitioner.

Questions we actually get

Before you ask us

How can a customer tell real shilajit?

Honestly, mostly they cannot by eye. That is exactly why publishing your own test reports is such effective marketing in this category.

Resin or capsule?

Resin for margin and premium positioning; capsule for volume and convenience. Many serious brands sell both.

Your idea, made tangible

Formulating with Shilajit?

Tell us the format and the volume. We will come back with a specification, a per-unit cost and a realistic first-batch date.
